SELF-LOVE:
Work life balance. Many of our families have shared that drawing the line at the end of the day between work and home has become increasingly challenging while working from home and often caring for children in between. Try some scree-free zones for the whole family by putting away all devices between say 5 (or 6) and 8pm. Parents and children. Try putting your phone on airplane mode or as one smart papa shared with us, he puts his phone in a drawer during those hours and tells his team they have to actually call if it's urgent enough to disturb dinner and bedtime.
PARENTING:
Screen-time tip #3: Ending screen time is never an easy transition. The auto load of the next episode doesn't make this any easier! One trick is to find out how many minutes are left on the show, and set a timer on our phone for 1 minute before. Then you can be right there waiting when it is over. Allowing your child to push the "off" button on the remote or closing the screen themselves at that point also helps!
INDOOR ACTIVITY:
(Math) While doing a cooking project-write out the recipe with simple pictures. Then have your child connect with questions like “How many Tablespoons do we need? “Now how many more do we need?”
OUTDOOR ACTIVITY:
Chalk Dust - If you are ok with letting your child use up some chalk, this is an instant hit with kids of all ages. Teach children to grind the chalk between two blocks. They LOVE this process of transformationa and the chalk dust possibilities are endless from fairy dust to potions!
