Day 45: Disco Bath, Regressions, Loving Life, and Bubble Machines

SELF-LOVE: What are you loving about your life right now? In the roller coaster of emotions that is life as we know it, sometimes it can be hard to remember or even notice. Try to right down in a journal or  just in a note in your phone, one thing you are loving about life in Quarantine. It will be nice to reflect back on this, perhaps when things return to normal speed, and remember what we learned about life at this pace.

PARENTING TIP:  Independence Take Two: Regressions. Are you wondering why your child can't or doesn't want to do a task they were just fine doing several weeks ago? When children are under stress (or hungry, or tired) they are not able to access the higher thinking parts of their brains. Instead of giving up and doing for them, try offering a hug first! "It looks like you need a hug before you put on your shoes-lets do a 5 second hug and double kiss first!"

INDOOR ACTIVITY: Curriculum Area: Music/Sensory. Disco bath! Use glow sticks you might not have used, or just pump  some tunes and it’s an instant party!  This doesn't have to be before bedtime! Any part of the day is great for water and sensory play.  If you are doing before bed time, you may want to shift the music toward the end to more calming music (try yoga, spa or baroque music-all which are used in therapeutic settings.)

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY: Bubble Machines! Yes, Kellam says you should invest! The professional ones are better. Note that they take a lot of bubble liquid, but are completely worth the joy!
