SELF-LOVE:
Choose one thing you loved about Mother’s Day and try to figure out how you can sustain it. Did you pamper yourself a little bit? Did you get some time alone or in nature as a family? Did you state what you needed and it worked? What could become a part of the daily or weekly instead of the yearly routine?

PARENTING:
Feeling like you had a challenging moment with your child? Teacher Alexis offers the great strategy of talking it over with your partner after bedtime. This can be a great way to connect with your partner, get support and brainstorm strategies, like you would for a tricky task at work. Especially if you are usually the parent with “the answers”, showing your vulnerability and asking for your partners input can be quite helpful. You are on the same team, utilize each other!
INDOOR ACTIVITY:
Curriculum Area: Gross Motor. Wheel barrow walks. This is great proprioceptive (muscle and joint) input that has a deep calming effect in kids similar to climbing trees or playground structure. We do this when we can’t get outside, when we have too much energy to sit at the table or to settle into bed!
OUTDOOR ACTIVITY:
Critter Dig - Do you have plastic "critters" or toys around your house? Put them to use. Get a box and mix them in with dirt or sand and give your little one a scooper. Not only does it provide sensory input, but also encourages determination and a sense of accomplishment! If you use sand, wet it for an extra sensory bonus. You can also bring the fun to a local open space if you don’t have a backyard!
